Columbia River Journey to the Lewis and Clark Rendezvous

Potter sailors who wish to arrive in St. Helens via the river route from Portland will congregate at the Gleason Ramp, launch, and be prepared to leave by 11 am on Friday the 12th.

Gleason Ramp

The Gleason Ramp is located at 4300 NE Marine Drive, opposite of the Portland Airport Runway. For more information about the Gleason Ramp, click here. Directions to the ramp: From the North click here. Coming from the South, click here Note, I made this mapquest driving directions by using Olympia and Portland respectively. For some reason mapquest expects you are in a very specific part of those cities, so ignore the beginning of the directions!

Once launched and ready, the fleet will begin the journey downriver highlighted in red on the map of the river. To see a larger version of this map, click here.

Potters at the Gleason Ramp

The journey will take somewhere between 4-6 hours. If it looks like we have plenty of time, there are a number of nice stopovers we could hit. One of these stopovers is JJ Collins Marine Park

JJ Collins Marine Park

JJ Collins Marine Park is located on Coon Island in the Multnomah Channel. This serene 23-acre island offers outstanding bird-watching, a 1.5 mile nature trail and a restful lunch spot for boaters, complete with picnic tables and campsites. If that sounds just like a brochure, then click here to see why.
